What: YWYS to relocate Community Assembly caravan

Where: YWYS– Caravan /Community Assembly site at the desalination site. Lower Powlett Road, Wonthaggi.
Why: Your Water Your Say were forcibly evicted from their site of over two months on instruction of the DSE on Monday 14th July
YWYS will, on Wednesday, be moving the community assembly caravan out of the site to a new undisclosed location where the campaign and peaceful protest
will continue as vigorously as before.
The DSE claims safety issues as the prime reason for the road closure and the removal of the caravan, so YWYS will ensure that safety is maintained and will not
be an issue into the future.

NINE protesters were arrested in an angry confrontation with police near the site of Victoria’s $3 billion desalination project yesterday.
About 20 police officers confronted 50 locals with orders to remove their information caravan from an unsealed road 500m from the site near Wonthaggi.
One woman who chained herself to the caravan was cut free by search-and-rescue squad officers and carried screaming from the scene.
Police also removed three protesters from the roof of the caravan. One woman shouted, “I’m just doing my bit for the environment” as she was carried away.
