Desalination: Court Costs Decision
Your Water Your Say (YWYS) has been summoned back to the Federal Court
tomorrow, Friday, June 13, 2008 at 10.15.am for the court judgement on costs.
Both Federal and State governments are seeking costs against YWYS after their
unsuccessful Federal Court challenge. The court has had the written submissions on
costs for several weeks and the decision will be made on the written submissions - no
oral submissions will be taken.
If the State and Federal governments are successful in gaining costs it is likely that the
community action group YWYS will be wound up. This will leave the local community
without an official organization to voice their concerns and opposition to the
desalination project
Media representatives from YWYS will be available for comment outside the Federal
Court after the decision.
