Key members from all sides of politics were in Bass Coast this week discussing the potential impact of the proposed desalination plant.
While most of the attention was focused on the visit by the new Water Minister, Tim Holding, the leaders of Victoria’s National Party and the Greens also held meetings with Council and the Your Water Your Say action group.

If someone could please explain Mr Brumby’s concept of sharing.
“Mr Brumby said the investment in repairing water infrastructure would create 225 gigalitres of water savings to be shared equally between irrigators, the environment and Melbourne water users.”

On 25th September 2007, 5 members of YWYSAG, a community youth representative and council met with Mr Tim Holding, the state minister in charge of water. Unfortunately this was a short visit (shortened even further at the last minute by his office) and way too short to achieve much of any value. To his credit Mr Holding was very cordial and open, he listened and he tried to answer all comments and questions without overrunning us with “spin” or changing subject.
